RSVP volunteers helped install smoke alarms in Carbon County!!
Each year, the Red Cross responds to nearly 66,000 disasters, the vast majority of which are home fires. The goal of their Home Fire Safety Campaign is to reduce fire-related deaths and injuries. After a deadly fire took the life of an infant in Lehighton, Senior Corps RSVP volunteers began working with the Red Cross of the Pocono Mountains in their local Home Fire Safety Campaign. RSVP volunteers assisted in three community events working side-by-side with the Red Cross and local fire departments. A total of 350 ten-year lithium battery smoke detectors were installed in homes free of charge.
